Body Focused Emotional Therapy

I’m with you.

I’m with you.

I don’t know a single person who doesn’t face difficult moments in life. Don’t know people who'se lives have’t been challanging. Some bear a traumatic story, while others less so, and yet the feeling of being challenged is always there. The question is "how do I relate to my challenges?". Our increasing capacity to manage ourselves in the midst of struggle and find our way out to greener pastures is a result of the work we do on ourselves.

I am here to help you meet life's challenges with dignity. To create change. To walk with you hand in hand through life’s experiences and rediscover yourself in your strengths and qualities. To move from frustration, upheavals and storms to a broader perspective that allows for new solutions to emerge.

I am Amir Aranya, an Omnitherapy body-centered emotional therapist. I guide and accompany people through deep emotional work. The work we’ll do together will allow you to reconnect with yourself and your emotions, rediscover yourself and build better relationships. Omnitherapy will help you realize yourself in-spite-of and because of your past circumstances and experiences.

It starts with listening

When was the last time you had someone listen to you with their complete attention? When was someone present with you, in deep understanding of your experience, wanting the best for you, and walking beside you on a path of healing, and empowerment? Every Omnitherapy process begins with the question "What do you want?" What are you looking to change? What isn’t being realized? What is currently causing you pain or making you feel helpless? What doesn’t seem resolvable? Once your goal becomes clear, we can form the path.

Why body-work?

We are multi-dimensional beings. A range of mental, emotional, and physical processes is carried out simultaneously within us. Everything is in interaction: thoughts affect emotions, which affect the body, which creates a mindset and an emotional state, which in turn influences everything continuously.

Despite being “holistic” beings, our society is intellect focused. Our "emotional" therapy tends to be of a verbal and intellectual nature - human experience however is broader. Life happens in the moment, both physically and emotionally - simultaneously. When life hits hard, it threatens to sweep a person along with whatever mental understanding he may have gathered about his situation. A wind whirl of turbulent emotions and difficult physical sensations tend to have a stronger effect on us. Managing this dynamic is an ability we can learn and acquire, enabling us to achieve independence as we see internal and external changes. As it is, the heart has its own intelligence, as does the body.

In my clinic, I often meet people who describe their experience as “hopelessness". People who have gone through years of talk therapy and have been medicated without experiencing significant change. So what's missing? I believe in therapeutic work that occurs in the body, emotion, and thought—simultaneously. I believe in inner work that fosters learning and independence within us. The body is the space where things “descend down to earth" - to a concrete and tangible level.  The body is the clearest and most accessible arena for identifying our dynamics with the world and our subjective experiences. It is the most direct gateway into ourselves.

We’ve learned to survive

A child who experienced continuous random violence in the family has learned and adapted to a state of constant alertness. A girl who was scolded whenever she expressed her desires, has learned to suppress her wants and desires.

We come into this world completely dependent, equipped with a highly intelligent survival mechanism - we learn and adapt in order to survive.

This survival system has adapted behaviors that helped us avoid pain, feel secure, and not be ostracized from the group. So we know how to survive, but survival is not fulfillment, nor is it love, belonging or creativity.

As adults, we encounter contradictions within ourselves. The strength of our behavioral patterns sometimes renders us powerless to see and choose. What was once a necessary defense now becomes an invisible prison.

On the bright side, we do know how to survive and adapt to almost anything. We can live our entire lives in dissatisfaction, be exposed to severe traumas, and still be able to bury what is too hard to handle. As long as we can function comfortably in the world, it’s possible to live like that. But not everything buried agrees to stay buried, and it’s not always possible to reconcile with the experience of lack. In unexpected moments, it surfaces, reminding us how temporary and vulnerable we are. If the pain we bear isn’t met with healing, it can prevent us from experiencing a life of self-connection and meaning. A person who decides to seek therapy and do inner work is someone who has the desire and belief that it is possible.

Our body doesn't lie

In a way, our body is ”living" through us. When we turn our attention to the body in the clinic, it immediately reveals insights that our intellectual analysis often misses. Through mindful touch, breathing, attention, movement, and using our voice, we embark on a shared journey of learning.

The body reflects our emotional responses to different situations in our lives in a direct and immediate way. It sheds light on what prevents our desires from being realized, or in other words, what causes the unpleasant experiences in our lives to become fixed. Everything changes when we decide to observe and to see. We move from passivity to activity—and this is a position of power.

About Me

About Me

Ever since I can remember myself I've been investigating. As a child I enjoyed taking things apart and putting them back together again. I've always been drawn to the idea that if the will to understand is strong enough, nothing could stand in the way of the search. My first encounter with the academic world was in the realm of music. I've studied Classical Composition in Jerusalem and Music Composition and Orchestra Conducting in Milan. The baton's weight of responsibility has taught me that music reveals itself to those who stop to listen and notice the subtle details. I find that this is also the case of our experience. Self-study and attentiveness reveal our internal reality, and as a result, gives us the opportunity to make a choice in every moment.

As I grew older, I experienced some the various events that life throws at us all. I was left with puzzling question marks and increasing pain, I've met other people's pain. The search for answers and the desire for freedom have led me to a deep self-investigation that led to the question of my mission in this life. I discovered that the world was inviting me to do exactly what I did as a child - to explore, feel, disassemble and reassemble, feel, be moved, be impressed and recreate. These became my work tools and man's inner reality and physical body became work material. I discovered that my life's mission laid in fields of therapy and inner growth.

Over the years I studied The Alexander Technique for 3 years, The Omnitherapy Method for Holistic Physical Psychotherapy and Energy Healing. My journey has led me to discover, overcome and grow. Today I offer the fruits of my path for those who may benefit from it and cultivate harmony in their lives and of those around them.
