Body-Focused Psychotherapy
Omnitherapy is a body-focused emotional therapy approach. It seeks to connect individuals with their deep desires and wishes. The therapeutic process helps patients expand their range of choice in given life-situations, enabling them to create a more fulfilling reality. Omnitherapy works with the body's automatic responses, with experiences of pain and vulnerability that often control us, connecting us with our innate qualities expressed through the body. In doing so, it allows individuals to overcome their habitual behaviors and history and grow in the face of life's challenges.
This occurs on several levels:
Omnitherapy enables us to learn to identify our automatic behavioral patterns and opens up new possibilities for action. These patterns are behavioral templates that we have developed throughout our lives in order to adapt and find security in the environment in which we were shaped. Today, they limit our freedom of choice and solidify our conduct in various areas of life.
Omnitherapy helps us to move into recognition and meet our emotional vulnerability from a safe place. As creatures seeking to avoid pain and move towards safety and positive experiences, our defense mechanisms arise to assist us, allowing us to "bypass" unpleasant experiences and deep emotional pain. The downside is that these patterns prevent us from feeling, processing, and overcoming the source of our pain, therefore, healing does not take place.
The approach emphasizes the connection between our physical, emotional, and mental experiences, based on the understanding that the human experience involves all three components continuously and simultaneously. When we begin to explore this connection looking at the individual case and circumstances of your life, learning and independence emerge.
Omnitherapy identifies the body as the most accessible arena for change. Every emotion and thought leaves traces in the body. Physical sensations carry emotional and mental experiences. There is a correlation between how we use and operate our body and how we function in the different areas of our life. The body is the "animal" that we are; it speaks a language of breath, contraction, relaxation, attention, movement and voice. This means that it is not enough to mentally understand why we suffer from a particular emotional distress—if we do not know how to address the body when “it” experiences danger or insecurity, it will "shut down" and create emotional avoidance via pain, anxiety or a state of paralysis.
Omnitherapy is a radically positive perspective. Our patterns are built upon the strongest qualities we were born with; when we learn to go inward, we can harness the great power within them and use it consciously and beneficially. A person who undergoes an Omnitherapy therapeutic process will become aware of habitual behaviors, develop the ability to contain them and acquire tools for concrete and measurable change. The process guides individuals towards internal balance, enabling them to face life's challenges in a positive and growth-oriented manner while grounding and listening to their true desires.
